Premier Project Profile

VBC Energy Towers

The construction of the VBC Energy Towers in Maputo, was undertaken by SS Construções (Moçambique) for VBC, Limitada between March 2020 and June 2021.

Background: The contract for the construction of the VBC Towers saw SS Construções undertaking the full spectrum of the project, from earthworks through to finishing.

The Project Scope

The building comprises two high-rise (17 floors) office towers and a parking lot catering for 210 vehicles. The towers will respectively be used for office accommodation by the Ministry of Energy and Ministry of Justice.

The specialised glass façade is made out of twisted glass – a first of its kind in Mozambique – and this required a different, more challenging and complex installation approach to conventional level glass. In order to install these unlevelled facades a SS Construções team was trained specifically on the installation methods and equipment required and the full facade was done using mobile elevation platforms and winches.
