Renewable Energy
Our Renewable Energy Discipline offers full Balance of Plant (BoP) construction on windfarms (design, procure and construct) and solar farms, as well as constructing substations and battery energy storage systems (BESS) – from breaking ground through to commissioning. The discipline draws on the various other disciplines within our Group.
Our broad spectrum of expertise, our strong solution-based culture and our capacity across the construction environment enables us to offer a single point of responsibility on multidisciplinary energy infrastructure development projects, effectively removing the interface risk from these type of projects.
Our engineering, civils and general construction capabilities span bulk earthworks, piling and geotechnical, building and management, ME&I (mechanical, electrical & instrumentation), structures (including specialized steel structures) and civils. We also offer an in-house BIM 4 and 5D planning and execution capability.

In-house resources
Our specialised technical team delivers complex projects by self-executing all civil works and the majority of electrical works, including substation construction, underground cable networks, and overhead lines. Additionally, our electrical expertise is enhanced by in-house design resources, offering extensive design experience in IPP and Eskom Self-Build projects.
Stefanutti Stocks continually invests in the group’s plant and equipment and our standard construction fleet includes drill rigs (for geotechnical investigations) 100m3/hour batch plants, ready mix trucks, as well as mobile crushing and screening plants.
Stefanutti Stocks’ in-house MEP capability and know-how means that we have the experience to either manage specialist subcontractors, on behalf of our clients, or in fact complete all ME&I and structural steel work in-house. We also have our own in-house pipe-spooling fabrication facility. This in-house MEP capability also means that we can both price and execute the structural steel, electrical and mechanical disciplines in house, thereby offering our clients a complete one-stop solution.
Pockets of Excellence
Energy Infrastructure: Stefanutti Stocks’ multidisciplinary nature and propensity for focusing on pre-planning supports our ability to deliver world-class energy infrastructure projects.
Concrete Rehabilitation: In addition to constructing greenfield civils projects we offer particular expertise in the field of maintenance, structural concrete repair and rehabilitation for mining, industrial, petrochemical, power, water, transport, and building clients. The offering includes specific technical solutions for this type of work at height. Our economical repair strategies and market-leading technologies ensure that existing and aging infrastructure assets stay in service for their intended lifespan
Project Portfolio

Pre-cast towers for Nxuba Windfarm
During 2019 Stefanutti Stocks Civils Discipline manufactured pre-cast concrete towers for the Nxuba Wind farm in Somerset East, Cape Province. The prefab facility, constructed by Stefanutti Stocks, included two sixty-four-ton gantry cranes, rebar jigs, hydraulically operated moulds and a full-equipped concrete laboratory on site. The self-compacting concrete met BSI1 Standards and achieved a concrete compressive strength of 80 Mpa at twenty-eight days and 25 MPa at sixteen hours, or at eight hours with heat curing. The supply chain was managed carefully to ensure long lead time products procured abroad, arrive prior to being required.

Power block construction at Concentrated Solar Plants (CSP)
In 2016 Stefanutti Stocks undertook the civil construction of the power block for the 100MW Kathu CSP for Liciastar (Pty) Ltd. The scope of work included the earthworks (excavation and backfill) as well as the reinforced concrete construction of various structures, including the foundations for the turbine, heat transfer, molten salt tank, the electrical building, the water treatment, various tanks as well as the pipe rack foundations.
