Description: Stefanutti Stocks Building KZN undertook all three phases of the Liberty Life project in Umhlanga, KwaZulu-Natal.
Phase 1 entailed the construction of Liberty Life’s new 35 500m2 regional head offices and consisted of four levels of basement parking, a ground floor, a mezzanine level with parking and five floors of office space above (completed on 30/01/2009).
Phase 2 saw a 27 500m2, 3-star, 204 room hotel constructed for Southern Sun and consisted of four levels of basement parking; back of house operations; a ground floor (on -1 level) consisting of reception, management offices, bar, catering, dining and pool deck area; a mezzanine level; five floors of hotel rooms; and roof plant rooms (completed on 06/05/2010).
Phase 3 consisted of an office block comprising four levels of basement parking, a ground floor and five office levels. The basements were constructed using contiguous piling and ground anchors. The building is constructed of a reinforced concrete frame structure on piled foundations. The external façades are clad in natural sandstone and glazed curtain walling and aluminium windows. Phase 3 was completed on 30/11/2010.
