Value Logistics Distribution Centre
Client: Value Logistics
Sector: Building - industrial, warehousing facilities
Description: Three phases of the Value Logistics Distribution Centre were undertaken by Stefanutti Stocks Building KZN.
The scope of work on Phase 1 included the construction of a 12 000m2 distribution centre warehouse with dock levellers and dock doors on concrete columns, with a structured steel roof support on a 32-metre grid, spanned by lattice girders. An office block, comprising a double-storey concrete, framed with a concrete deck roof, was built. Furthermore this phase included the construction of a 400m2 drivers ablution facilities, a 200m2 wash bay, a refuelling station, fire tanks and pumps, a battery-charging facility (which is a double volume area with concrete roof), an inspection pit, further offices and ablutions, and a 44 000m2 hardstand.
Phases 2 and 3 were negotiated on the back of a successful Phase 1, which had been tendered for.
Phase 2 entailed the expansion of the existing warehouse by an additional 8 000m2, and included a DC warehouse, with dock levellers and dock doors on concrete columns, with a structured steel roof support on a 32-metre grid, spanned by lattice girders. Specialised concrete flooring subcontractors were used in order to prevent any curling of the FM2 floors.
Phase 3 saw an additional 15 000m2 added to the facility, and despite the project being faced with 18 days of inclement weather, a great team effort saw it handed over to the client two weeks ahead of schedule.
